Resource Management and Policy Planning

Planning at Davis Ogilvie involves liaison with the client from inception and feasibility of a project, through to consultation and negotiation with affected parties and local authorities, and presentation of evidence at both Council and Environment Court hearings where necessary.

We are involved in both resource management and policy planning, with work on a wide range of projects including:

Resource consent applications (including subdivision, land use and discharge permits).
District plan preparation including Section 32 and Section 42A reporting, plan changes and variations.
Submission preparation on resource consent applications, district or regional plans.

Assessments of environmental effects.
Scoping reports for new or existing development opportunities.
Expert planning evidence for resource management hearings.

We work closely with the other disciplines on the specifics of a project to ensure that planning principles are met in terms of District and Regional Plans and the Resource Management Act. Depending on the size of the project the planning process can also involve liaison with local politicians and other technical experts in fields such as geotechnical engineering; landscape design; and biological, ecological and geological sciences.
